Held during an action-packed CDI 3* and National Dressage Show, Sabine Schut-Kery led a full day of focused learning in Arena 1 at the World Equestrian Center - Ocala, drawing auditors who lined up early to secure their seats.

True to the masterclass format, Sabine reviewed submitted videos and met the riders the day before — but had not seen any of the horse-and-rider combinations ride until they entered the arena in front of the audience. Working across a diverse range of mounts, including Lusitanos, Warmbloods, and Friesians, she covered everything from turn-on-the-forehand and shoulder-in through half-pass sequencing, piaffe development, and young-horse training.

Teaching Highlights.

  • Turn-on-the-forehand and shoulder-in as tools for suppling and correct alignment ahead of half-pass sequencing
  • Piaffe development rooted in hind-leg power, not just front-end expression
  • Adapting exercises like shoulder-in at the walk and counter-canter across breeds — Lusitanos, Warmbloods, and Friesians alike
  • Fairness and consistency: never letting a horse learn a bad habit is "sometimes okay"
  • Rewarding the smaller steps along the way, not just the finished movement
  • Right-sizing young-horse sessions — sometimes 20–30 focused minutes is enough
  • Transitions and "pushing power" as the foundation for maintaining gaits and collection

"A lot of riders want a flashy front end and forget about where all the power is coming from. If you can keep that mindset, you will develop a better, stronger, and more correct piaffe."

Sabine Schut-Kery

"Sabine is an awesome clinician. I loved her precision of the basics. She made a difference in every horse."
